Circa 1978 as per Italian proof code. Chopper lump barrels are equipped with a file cut matte rib with brass bead front sight on a slightly concave solid rib. Right barrel engraved "Acciaio Siau U.M.6", left "Flli Piotti Gardone V.G.". Underside of right barrel with steel designation repeated. Barrel flats with modern Italian nitro proofs, Piotti proof, and nominal 18.4 IBD proof. Somewhat flattened splinter forearm with Anson style plunger release is engraved in a point pattern with a central inescutcheon with a wreathed heraldric device. Exterior iron with tight acanthus scrollwork, interior with matching serial number. Action flats with Italian proofs, Piotti proof, and Boehler stamp. Engraving is nicely shaded and cut English rose and scroll, with bouquets on the fences, signed at trigger plate for Granetti. Non-automatic safety, with "SICURA" engraved ahead of slide. Trigger guard with wrigglework borders and light floral engraving protects double triggers, front articulated, and has a long tang. Diamond-shaped English-style straight stock is stocked to the fences and has point pattern checkering about the wrist, cast slightly off for a right handed shooter. The nicely figured and largely straight-grained walnut has a figure reminiscent of windswept dunes; one small knot just behind checkering on left hand side. Checkered butt. CONDITION: Overall very good. Barrels retain virtually all of their bluing with some thinning towards muzzles, areas of superficial scratches from handling and use, and a small area of speckling on right muzzle. Stocks are very good with handling marks and a few minor dings, one of which has abraded some heads on left side of forearm. Mechanically fine, bores are excellent, smooth and shiny. Ejectors are in good time. A robust, well handling example.
