Originally made by A.H. Fox Gun Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Company in 1913. Early, rare, CE grade sub-gauge gun and 1 of approximately 700 made with the Kremer-designed friction forearm. Cody research does not have a card on this shotgun, except for the manufacturing date. This fine shotgun features factory 28" blued Krupp fluid steel barrels with a "Krupp Fluid Steel Made By" marking on the right breech and "A.H. Fox Gun Co. Phila. Pa." marking on the left with matted rib, ejectors, bead sights, and floral engraving at the breech. Barrels are choked Full and Improved Cylinder, chambers measure 2- 1/2". Case-hardened finished boxlock action with standard CE Grade full coverage fine floral engraving with woodcocks on the right-side panel, quail on the left side panel, and floral pattern with a pointing dog on the bottom. Automatic safety and factory double triggers protected by a blued floral engraved trigger guard with serial number. Border checkered walnut pistol grip stock with checkered side panels in C Grade style with factory hard rubber buttplate, round knob pistol grip cap, and matching checkered factory beavertail forearm with Kremer friction release. CONDITION: Overall, 90% original barrel finish with slight handling marks. Barrels have a slight case and carry wear, one slight gray area from a possible dent repair (not visible internally) with some small pits surrounding the area 2" from the muzzle on the left on the underside of the left barrel (could be from holding the gun by muzzle). 30% fading case colors with sharp markings and some remnants of Fox factory over glaze. Receiver is starting to silver in carry areas and some browning. Good wood with 90% original finish, small handling marks, and slightly dulled checkering. Small, old, repaired chip in toe. Good mechanics with mirror bores, tight lock up, and lever way to right with in-time but turned screws. A very eye-catching shotgun with rare specifications.
