Exceedingly scarce Colt vehicle port-firing machine gun marked on magazine well "Property of U.S. Govt" over "M 231" followed by "CAL 5.56 MM" over the serial number. This specimen is immediately recognizable by its unusual short handguard with a metal fixture at the forward edge for screwing this weapon into the firing port of a Bradley fighting vehicle. Normally found as full-auto only and without sights, this particular specimen has the traditional, "Safe, Semi, Auto" selector, and has a slide on carrying handle/rear sight assembly as well as a telescoping buttstock, making this a very viable shooting platform for the recreational shooting enthusiast. 1 30-round Colt magazine and cardboard shipping box with blue plastic protective sleeve are included with this lot. Electronic registry indicates "COLT" as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent original finish with perhaps the slightest of handling marks discernible upon closest possible inspection. Bore near excellent shiny and bright. Bolt face near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select-fire machine gun. An interesting yet completely usable variation of the M16 machine gun.
