Circa 1920-1932 per Donald Dallas's book. Brass bead front sight on a sweated on base, relieved for a hood (not present), express rear sight with 2 leaves, one fixed and one folding; fixed sight is regulated for 50 and 200 yards, folding for 350. Top of barrel is engraved with the 98 New Bond street address, shank engraved "HOLLAND'S .240 BORE APEX SUPER EXPRESS RIFLE" and with nitro proofs. Large ring Mauser action marked on left side with "1151" H&H serial number, repeated on trigger guard, stippled across the top of the rings. 3 position safety has "SAFE" inlaid in gold. Walnut half stock of a restrained walnut with point pattern checkering at the forearm and about the pistol grip wrist, fit with a trap at the grip cap, empty. Left side of stock with an unbeaded cheekpiece. Toe line with a silver vanity plate, vacant, and sling stud; fore sling stud is on a base sweated to barrel ahead of forearm. Serrated horn buttplate. Housed in a newer alligatored leather wrapped case with a repro Holland & Holland trade label in lid and containing accessories composing a bottle of H&H branded rangoon oil, and approximately 30 rounds of Kynoch manufactured .240 Apex ammo: 10 rounds loose across 2 5 round boxes, 2 sealed 10 round boxes. CONDITION: Very good as rehabilitated and experienced in the field. Metal is very good with the vast majority of the bluing with some scattered random marks from the field, some very mild pitting visible under the bluing, which lends a cloudy appearance to the finish, and some very mild silvering to high edges. Stock in commensurate condition with field marks, but solid with no cracks or chips. Mechanically fine, bore is good with visible rifling, somewhat softened, and even frosting in the grooves. Case is excellent with some mild handling marks, accessories are very good; missing retaining pin on left side of handle. Ammo appears serviceable; please review Morphy T&C regarding ammo.
