From the collection of a very discerning longtime collector comes this fabulous original World War II German Pak 36 anti-tank gun. These were fielded starting in 1936 and remained effective through the battle for France in 1940 and into the early stages of the fighting in Russia, until ever-increasing quantities of thicker armored vehicles were encountered. But for the modern collector/shooting enthusiasts these are wonderful pieces, able to be converted to shoot the 37mm BOFORs cartridges, yet still retaining their WWII vintage appearance. This specimen's elevation mechanism is extremely smooth and easy to operate, while the traverse mechanism is rather stiff, yet moves in both directions with effort. This is a Curio & Relic eligible Destructive Device. Electronic NFA registry indicates, "UNKNOWN" as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine throughout, with the majority of original paint remaining with loss to brown patina in places. Sheet metal at breech extremely fine. The original leather, albeit cracked, is intact on the breech operating handle. Bore is dark with well-defined rifling. Rubber tires are extremely fine to near excellent. One able bodied young man was able to roll this piece off a transport trailer and up an incline into Morphy's processing center; point being that the advantages of being relatively portable still hold valid today just as they did over 85 years ago. The history of this model, originality of the condition of this piece, together with this portability and potential for use at recreational firing at events such as the Big Sandy Shoot in Wikiup, Arizona, make this one of the most desirable WWII anti-tank guns to surface for public sale in years. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS A "DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE". JWK 2023-12-36
