This is just the gun the American WW2 machine gun collector/enthusiast has been looking for. Upper assembly is marked with an "S" indicating Savage manufacture, and lower assembly matches in serial number. Cocking handle on the side, fixed firing pin "nipple" on face of bolt and markings "M1A1" on left side of receiver all are immediately recognizable features that this gun was one of the ones which carried America to victory in WW2. The M1A1 is the final iteration of the development of a simplified and less costly to produce Thompson machine gun. It eliminated the Blish lock system, making the receiver easier to manufacture. The M1 Thompson will NOT accept drum magazines, only stick magazines as the lower assembly is not "cut" with a groove for a drum. Includes on 20 round Bridgeport marked magazine, a "No Buckl sling, and original canvas cover marked, "Thompson Sub-machine Gun Cal, .45" with procurement number. All Thompson models have been designated as Curio and Relic eligible by the BATF. Electronic registry indivates, “Thompson” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall finish and appearance is extremely fine original finish with some gray patina at the high edges with some thinning in places. Wood is extremely fine with some light handling marks. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine to near excellent. The Thompson machine guns made by Savage during the WWII era are the most durable of their kind, and in addition to being a gun one can take to the range occasionally and enjoy, it is a great specimen of a true American military classic WW II Thompson machine gun. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. – JWK 2023-12-29
