Circa 1883. An English-made 12 gauge boxlock non-ejector shotgun. It is fit with 30" browned Damascus nitro proved barrels with rib extension, dolls head third fastener, and a tapered, concave game rib fit with a brass bead front sight. The rib is marked "WILLIAMS & POWELL. LIVERPOOL". Modern Birmingham Nitro proof with proper reproof marks from 2000, modern proved for 2 - 3/4" (70mm) cartridges at proof pressure of 850 BAR, Chokes are Improved Modified on left, and an interchangeable Briley choke tube on right. The patinaed case color hardened finished action is engraved with scrolls with "WILLIAMS & POWELL" below the action flats, the bottom blacked. The action is fit with smooth, double triggers and an automatic safety with "SAFE" in gold ahead of the engraved and checkered safety slide. Triggers are protected by a blacked and engraved guard with scrolls. Bottom tang with similar scroll and guns serial number "10216". Best quality walnut stock with traditional English straight hand grip, checkered stock panels, vacant stock oval, and a 1" leather covered recoil pad. Splinter forend with Anson style release. The shotgun is presented in a very compact leather travel case with accessories. The case has a paper "WILLIAMS & POWELL" label on the interior of the lid along with a small paper card. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrel bores are bright and shiny, ring well and are tight on face. Triggers are crisp. Slight handling marks on buttstock and forend. Case: Very Good with handling and use marks. A great antique gun to add to your collection.
