Circa 1901. An English made 12 gauge boxlock ejector shotgun. It is fit with 30” nitro proved browned Damascus barrels with rib extension, dolls head third fastener, and a tapered, concave game rib fit with a brass bead front sight. The rib is marked "W. Richards, 27, Old Hall St, Liverpool". Modern Birmingham Nitro proof with proper reproof marks from 1991, Modern proved for 2 - 3/4" (70mm) cartridges at proof pressure of 850 BAR, Chokes are Full on Left and Modified on Right. The coin finished action is profusely engraved with scrolls with W. Richards in a banner with the bottom blacked. The action is fit with smooth fire blued double triggers and an automatic safety with "SAFE" in gold ahead of the scored safety slide. Triggers are protected by a blacked and engraved guard with scrolls. Bottom tang with similar scroll and serial number. Best quality walnut stock with traditional English straight hand grip, vacant stock oval, 1" leather covered recoil pad. Splinter forend with Anson style release. The shotgun is presented in a canvas trunk case with accessories. The case has a paper "W RICHARDS" label on the interior of the lid along with a small paper card. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrel bores are bright and shiny, ring well and are tight on face. Triggers are crisp. Slight handling marks on buttstock and forend. Case is very good with scuff marks. A fine gun.
