Circa 1936. An English-made 12 gauge sidelock ejector shotgun. It is fit with 28" blacked round nitro proved steel barrels and a tapered, concave game rib fit with a steel bead front sight. The rib is roll marked "FOR 2 INCH CASES ONLY" and engraved in script "Centenary". The right barrel is roll marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" while the left barrel is roll marked "98 NEW BOND STREET LONDON". Original London Nitro proof for 2" cartridges at 1 oz. proof, chokes are Improved Cylinder on left and Skeet on right. The case color hardened finished action with traces remaining (more in protected areas) is adorned with rose and scroll pattern engraving with "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" toward bottom rear of locks. The bottom of the action body is engraved "DOMINION EJECTOR". The action is fit with smooth, double triggers and an automatic safety with "SAFE" in gold ahead of the engraved and checkered safety slide. Triggers are protected by an engraved guard with scrolls. Bottom tang with similar scroll and serial number. Best quality walnut stock with traditional English straight hand grip, engraved stock oval (NJR in shaded block), scored ebonite butt plate. Splinter forend with Anson style release. The shotgun is presented in a single leather motor case and accessories. CONDITION: Very good. Barrel bores are bright and shiny, ring well, and are tight on face. Triggers are crisp. Slight handling marks on buttstock and forend. Case very good with handling use marks. Will make a great upland grouse and woodcock gun. Consigner has agreed to donate a selection of 2" ammo with purchase of gun.
