Matte gray finish Harrington and Richardson Reising Model 50 machine gun with 14-fin barrel and compensator. A green military-style web sling, 4 original 12-round magazines, and an original Federal Laboratories black trunk case are included with this lot. This Reising has the ribbed magazine housing, which will only accept 12-round magazines. This was an ammunition conservation measure. These may be removed and replaced with a smooth-sided magazine housing, which will accept the 20-round magazines. Both types of magazine housings and magazines are found on factory-produced guns. The Reising Model 50 is a high-quality machine gun that was fielded in limited numbers to the Marine Corps during WWII. The Reising has the intrinsic accuracy advantage of firing from a closed bolt. Police departments took to the Reising, and a semi-automatic model was also produced in response to civilian private factory security demands. Today, the Reising Model 50 has gained popularity as a well-made and fun .45 entry-level machine gun and World War II collector's item. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent original matte gray finish on gun and magazines, with loss of finish to gray patina on the buttplate. Wood has been lightly sanded, with a small crack running parallel to the bore line just under 4 inches back from the receiver. There is evidence of iron oxide staining where the buttplate meets the stock. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt face also extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select-fire machine gun. Original trunk case retains the Federal Laboratories sticker and is extremely fine to near excellent, except for some brown corrosion on the metal furnishing on the right end. Blue felt lining is a replacement. Leather handle is an excellent replacement. A desirable specimen overall, especially with four magazines and the trunk case. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2023-12-63
