High condition lustrous blue finish Harrington and Richardson Reising Model 50 machine gun with 29 fin barrel and compensator. 2 original 20-round, 2 original 12-round magazines, and an original black Federal Labs trunk case are included with this lot. The Reising Model 50 is a high-quality machine gun which was fielded in limited numbers to the Marine Corps during WWII. Firing from a closed bolt gave an advantage to the firer over the Thompson, which fires from an open bolt. Police departments took to the Reising, and a semi-automatic model was also produced in response to civilian private factory security needs. The Reising Model 50 is a high-quality machine gun, which was fielded in limited numbers to the Marine Corps during WWII when there were insufficient Thompson machine guns to meet military demand. The Reising has the intrinsic accuracy advantage of firing from a closed bolt. Today the Reising Model 50 has gained popularity as a well-made and fun .45 entry level machine gun. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent original smooth lustrous blue finish on gun with lustrous blue finish on the 20-round magazines, with fine gray finish on the 12 round magazines. Wood has been very lightly sanded and refinished to have a nice light color, with some light handling marks. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select-fire machine gun. Original trunk case retains Federal Laboratories sticker and is near excellent, retaining a high percentage of original black finish, with blue felt lining showing some wear, a little staining near at the lid, with the lining coming away in places. Original leather handle is extremely fine to near excellent. A very attractive gun in about the best external original condition trunk case this cataloger has seen.
