Manufactured by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1878. Rare open top deluxe model with 5000 total made of this model, far fewer deluxe models, only 91 made with half round barrel, and only 103 with checkered stocks. Gun has 28" blued half-round Winchester Steel barrel with Winchester address and King's Patent, sheared front blade sight, and Rocky Mountain rear adjustable sight. Full-length blued magazine tube. Case hardened open top receiver with factory set trigger. Tang was marked under the wood with a single "X" and assembly number of "187". Factory checkered standard walnut stock marked "187" in tang channel with case-hardened trap buttplate and matching checkered walnut standard forearm. Comes with Cody Research letter confirming all options. CONDITION: 95% overall condition as professionally restored with light handling marks. Dark bore with sharp rifling with lands looking slightly pitted with excellent mechanics. A nicely restored rare Winchester.
