Made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1889. Blued non-standard 30" octagon Winchester Steel barrel with blade front sight and plugged rear dovetail marked in front of rear dovetail "BROWNING BROTHERS OGDEN UTAH". Case-hardened receiver with blued full magazine and special-order single set trigger. Plain walnut stock with Winchester crescent steel buttplate. Matching walnut forearm. Cody research mentions set trigger, caliber and octagon barrel but does mention 30" barrel length. It should be noted that this gun could have been modified by Browning Brothers, who at the time were agents for Winchester and very capable of repair work. CONDITION: 95% original blue with light edge and operation wear with brown patina starting to show. 40% fading case colors with remaining silvery brown areas. 80% original varnish with some scratches and handling marks. Good bore with sharp lands and grooves and crisp mechanics.
