Pattern 1853 Enfield made in 1866, then converted to cartridge using the Snider conversion system to the .577 Snider and used from 1866-1901 in British Service. Aside from conversion block & cuts, it is a standard 1853 Pattern with round barrel, three band, sling swivels, brass trigger guard & butt plate. Lock is stamped with a crown and "Tower 1866". Barrel has usual British proofs. CONDITION. Good. Outside barrel condition is overall pitted. Lock legends are sharp but has some spotting as well. Wood very good with scattered dings and scratches. Bore is rough. Working order.
