Shortened and modified musket with a 31 - 1/2” barrel that has been shortened from a British Brown barrel (there appears to be British proofs marks on the top side of the barrel). This musket has a beautifully modified stock with relief carving around the tang with raised molding around the butt stock. The lock is a Third Model Brown Bess lock with Tower engraved on the tail. The lock has a stamped British Crown and GR. The trigger guard, buttplate, and sideplate are standard for this model Brown Bess musket. The front ramrod pipe is American made. The nose cap is missing and the ramrod is hickory. CONDITION: Shows use throughout. Lock is a reconversion and furniture has a dark patina. Scattered marks from use.
