Ca. 1850. Wax shoulder head with turned face looking down, lovely elegant features, unusual slit head with original inserted human hair wig (hair a little fragile), inset glass eyes, inset hair eyelashes and eyebrows (minor professional touch up to wax), cloth body with knee length wax legs with painted black boots with red laces and white stockings (some wear), elbow length wax arms. Totally original clothing: 2-piece silk gown with gathered silk ribbon trim, white organdy sleeves and bodice inset, lovely wide-brimmed bonnet, original underwear, pantaloons stitched to body, original slips, too. Winner of 7 ribbons. Featured in Antique Doll magazine October 2000 and 1983 Doll Collector’s Manual of the DCA. Provenance from Elizabeth Pierce Collection. All contained in a glass case. Lovely and desirable lady doll, a true antique treasure!
