Used by the Confederates in the Defense of Vicksburg. During the battle, a shell exploded and the Confederates later cut away the damaged end and used the cannon as a mortar. Heavy iron barrel measuring 10" overall and 1-1/2" at muzzle; .75 caliber. Serial No. 12. Great attention to detail, mounted on beautiful oak and steel sledge. This is a most attractive and well executed cannon model, sure to please and grace the desk of any Civil War enthusiast. Base measures 21-1/2" x 8-1/2".
