For an example of this exact pattern with different markings, see pages 105-106 "A Soldier-Like Way: The Material Culture of the British Infantry 1751-1768" by R.R. Gale. There is another example shown as 8.PAA on page 369 of "Battle Weapons of the American Revolution" by George Neumann. These halberds were carried by sergeants as a symbol of rank and a tool for maneuvering soldiers. The head measures 15 - 1/4" tall without the 11 - 1/2" straps. The spade-shaped point on top measures 10". Blade measures 8 - 1/2" with a 6" blade. The left side of blade is marked "NORTHUMBERLAND 18". The left strap is engraved "5 REGT". Measures about 97" overall. Wooden haft its a modern replacement, but displays very well. CONDITION: Blade retains a mostly grey surface with scattered light pitting. A very nice British Sergeant's Halberd. DMG
