(American, 1855-1931). Waterscapes of Hudson River are in matching old gilt frames. First painting measures 24'' x 20 framed; 19 - 1/2'' x 15 - 1/4'' sight. Reflection on the water is of a building with dock and path. Nice melding of colors: maroon, pink, black accenting, pale-green-hued Hudson River. Craquelure evident. Also, the interior part of the canvas' frame has left an impression that can be seen on the front (painted surface) of the canvas. Damage was probably caused by the painting's having laid on its back for an extended period of time. SLR Bayard H. Tyler. Second painting is a view of (presumably) the Hudson River's glistening water and opposite shore. Heavy craquelure. Same problem noted as with the companion painting- an impression from the back of the frame had indented the canvas and is visible from the front. SLR Bayard H. Tyler 1926. Frames on both are scraped on highest points, but it's not offensive and almost looks as though the frames were intended to look aged.
