This lot consists of a plaster bust of President Abraham Lincoln, done after the bust by artist, Thomas Dow Jones. One representation of Jones’s work can be seen in the National Portrait Gallery. Jones did not go into great detail to note all of President Lincoln's facial features, however he did get the most important ones. President Lincoln is depicted as looking off to the left. He dons a cloth wrap, and a suit coat underneath with a button down collared shirt and tie. When taking a closer look at the President it almost looks as if he is deep in thought. The artist has painted the bust to match off the coloring of white antique marble statues. However, this color is staring to discolor, crack and thus there are areas that are deficient of coloring. Please take note that there is a hole in the plaster on the chest of the President, however if one is not looking for it, it is well hidden. There are also numbers and wording on the verso that is illegible. Overall the piece is in good condition with normal wear present.

Condition: (Good - Very Good).

Item Dimensions: 33" T.
