July 22nd 2017 Premier Fine & Decorative Art & Watches
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 7/22/2017
This lot consists of a portrait of first lady, Ellen Axson Wilson, wife of President Wilson. The First Lady is depicted in this portrait, has a three quarter profile of her face, while her body appears to completely face the viewer. It is almost as if, the artist captured Mrs. Wilson just as she turned her head when someone called for her. She dons a blush coat with cream accents, below the coat she wears a light blush high necked top with a horseshoe shaped gold and pearl pin at her neck. Behind the glasses, Mrs. Wilson has soft features, with kind and gentle eyes. The artist has the woman seated in front of a green background. It appears that at one time there could have been something written on the upper left corner of the canvas, however it is not completely visible anymore. The painting is framed in a simple dark wood frame. Overall the piece is in good condition with minor wear from age. The frame appears to have taken most of the wear.
Condition: (Very Good - Excellent).
Item Dimensions: Framed: 25-3/4" x 30-3/4".
