DSP. Very rare C. 1930's Porcelain Service Station Sign for Lion Oils showing early "Lion On Rock" graphic with excellent script and color throughout. A product of Lion Oil Company, El Dorado, Arkansas. CONDITION: Side one is overall very good showing an excellent condition Lion graphic with six areas of chipping in the inner & outer fields as well as some minor scratching and discoloration in the black and orange at the right. The outer edge shows moderate nicks but displays well, Grade 7.9. Side two also shows an excellent Lion graphic with approximately seven chips in the outer field. Side two shows areas of light discoloration and fading in the outer field but displays well. Side two shows light chipping along the outer edge but nothing overly distracting, Grade 7.9. Sign is mounted in a new metal ring painted in black and displaying the piece excellent. A rare piece of Lion Oils advertising.
