A rare and iconic piece of early Service Station Signage from Sunset Gasoline & Rainbow Motor Oils showing iconic Sunset graphic with Sea reflection as well as speeding Car & soaring Airplane graphic. A product of Sunset Oil Company, Los Angeles, California. CONDITION: Side one is overall excellent showing outstanding color & gloss throughout the field with heavy shelving between colors. Side one shows no chips in the field with some light staining in the center yellow as well as some age spiderwebbing. Side one shows flawless script at the outer field as well as mint condition Car & Airplane graphics. Side one shows chipping at the outer orange ring, mostly at the mounting holes but overall displays very well, Grade 8.5. Side two shows very good color & gloss but shows heavier chipping in the field as well as spiderwebbing in the porcelain. Side two shows very good condition script at the outer field as well as excellent condition Car & Airplane graphics. Side two shows chipping along the outer edge and mounting holes, Grade 7.0. Overall a very well displaying piece of iconic Porcelain Signage from Sunset Gasoline, one of the most highly sought after brands.
