This sword was purchased from George Neumann by the consignor at the Baltimore arms show many years ago. It still retains its handwritten tag in Neumann's writing that states that it was from the Guthman Collection and dates 1780-1800. The slightly curved English type blade has a single fuller at the top on both sides. Brass four slot D-guard hilt with primitive eagle head pommel and a bone grip with spiraling gadrooning. CONDITION: Blade retains a pleasing grey brown patina. Hilt slightly loose to blade. Brass retains a pleasing mustard patina. Grip shows a couple chips at base. Nice early eagle pommel sword with great provenance.
