February 24-26th 2017 Premier Firearms
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/24/2017
Comprised of: 1) 19th century cuirass (breastplate) made of black-japanned iron consisting of matching front and back plates, with brass studs rivetted around the edges that once supported a liner inside (now missing). The front plate has a pronounced medial ridge running from top to waist. There is light pitting on the non-jappaned interiors of the plates, with light surface rust. Traces of the cloth lining remain under the rivets, especially on the backplate. 2) Reproduction dragoon or curassier helmet of leather with brass edging and scaled-chinstraps. Appears to be a mixture of original and reproduction parts. The lot is accompanied with a "Certificate of Authenticity" dated 2 April 2006 from a Toronto dealer in which it is stated that the grouping is "Early 19th century Russian Napoleonic Cuirassier armour including helmet, breastplate and backplate...." The cuirass in very good condition, with exceptions noted. The helmet missing frontplate device and plume.
Condition: (Good).
