France, Rilis. Extremely rare Charlie Chaplin Mechanical Target is the only complete example of this toy known. The other example is in the Mel Birnkrant collection. The large wooden face is paper litho covered with glass eyes and a metal cigarette. Affixed to a heavy cloth-covered spring attached to a wooden base. When cigarette is hit with ball (not included) Charlie Chaplin's eyes illuminate. Toy has not been tested but it is a simple mechanism. There is a Rilis sticker on the base. Excellent to near mint condition. 20".
