The slightly curved blade is 1 - 1/2" wide with a shallow wide fuller on each side. Both sides have blued panels of about 14 - 1/2". The right side is engraved with gold washed designs including an American eagle and a panoply of arms with a liberty cap above "WARRANTED". The opposite side has foliate and floral motifs as well as a panoply of arms with liberty cap. Gilt brass hilt with languettes, reverse-P knucklebow, and a detailed horse head pommel with integral backstrap. Ivory grip with large checkered panel. Complete with its original black leather scabbard with gilt brass mounts. CONDITION: Blade shows much of original gilt, blue and polished surfaces with some frosting, flaking and light scabbard wear. Hilt retains generous traces of gilt finish in protected areas. Grip retains a pleasing honey patina and shows some minor chipping, now smoothed from use, along pommel and backstrap. Scabbard shows crazing and minor cracking, with one bend between drag and center mount. A very attractive saber.
