A large ship log measuring 21" x 14" with bound canvas covers that contains entries for the Brig Rebecca & Sally. The log contains entries that date from the 1820s-1830 and are mostly entered by the ship's captains Samuel Groves, James Houston, and William Page. Many of the entries logged include travel to and from New York, which appears to be where the vessel was harbored. Most entries include information regarding positioning, the weather, type of cargo, and various events that occurred on a day to day basis, as the ship Rebecca & Sally appears to have been a trading vessel that traversed several areas but mostly frequented the Caribbean and surrounding areas. There are interesting entries from Charleston to Marseille in which Cape Trafalgar and Gibraltar are mentioned. Some pages contain longer entries than others. The log remains intact with a few pages in the front that have been torn. There is also evidence of several pages that were torn out throughout its length. Most writing remains legible with some stains and scattered blemishes that are typical of old paper and to be expected from a book that traveled the world via ship. CONDITION: Good.
