A British coat pistol with an iron box lock (flintlock) and an iron 4 1/2" cannon barrel; the finely figured walnut pistol grip has a "grotesque" silver mask and a highly ornate silver escutcheon, with the owners crest engraved upon the central medallion, mounted with a helmet above the military panoply below. The iron box lock is engraved "GRIFFIN" (the maker) on the left side and "Bond Street London" (his address) on the right side. A very fine condition pistol with the owners crest.
