Bensel for work on the Barge Canal, has a plain ivorine handle; a pair of silver-plate mounted wood nutcrackers; and a silver plated ax, one side engraved with a submarine over "With this ax Captain Sojiro Tochinai launched submarine No. 367 built by Vickers, Sons & Maxim Barrow in Furness May 19th 1908". Length of trowel: 13". Length of ax: 17". From the Ray Bentley Collection.
