An early (c. 1870) lantern frame made for a fat, Kelly-style globe. There are no markings or dates anywhere on the frame. It looks like something that may have been made by M. M Buck of St. Louis, but there is no hallmark. The globe is a stunning example, heavily embossed "StLIM&SRY" in a rectangular panel. The top and bottom fitters are flared, so this globe would be appropriate for a fixed frame, but this style is also found in some loose globe frames of varying types and manufacture. The frame is in very good condition, with black paint showing on the top portion and smooth aged patina on the base subassembly. The brass top is pushed in and could be straightened. The bail is missing. The globe is a tight fit at the bottom and has some flaking on the top and bottom rims that does not detract. Scale rating is 7.

Condition: (Good).

Item Dimensions: 11" x 7" x 7".
