This is the double guard "The Handlan" steel guard 1889 patent model, made for the Cotton Belt Route. The frame is tight and straight with only minor pitting. The fount fits snugly, is correct for this model, and is equipped with a functioning No. 1 ratchet burner. The Corning-style No. 39 globe has a real nice "Cotton Belt Route" embossed logo. It is not Corning hallmarked. There is slight yellowing. Rims are excellent with one minor bottom flake. Scale rating 8.
