Top lure is a special-order 8509G All-Black Basser in Excellent condition. Perfect glass eyes and a clean “Head-on” dive plate. With that, and the fatter body, its likely production date is 1923. Only a handful of Bassers are known in this color. Fancy Green Back was only catalogued on the Basser during its introductory year, 1922. Its slimmer, tapered profile, along with the “Head-on” dive plate support this being an intro bait. The paint is approaching Excellent, but both eyes have hairlines.
