Measures approximately 27 - 5/8" from tip of kissaki to munemachi. Fairly slender blade with single bo-hi, ko-kissaki. State of polish obscures hada and hamon. Shallow torii-zori. Iori mune. Copper catscratch habaki with remants of gilding. Unusually short nakago for this proportion with a heretofore unidentified stamp; this cataloguer has heard spectulation that it may be a stamp indicating refurbishment. Katte sagari yasurime, seki drilled mekugi-ana, kurijirio nakagojiri. Cast tsuba with geometrics and a dragon on a striated background. Mismatched fuchi kashira, fuchi with florals and geometricsm kashira a simpler iron affair. Tsuka-ito wrapped in the traditional style, over a cloth backing. Saya a simple wooden affair with black lacquer, brass koiguchi, and leather cord wrapping for grip. CONDITION: Sword is out of polish with no visible hada or hamon. Several areas of surface scratches, mossing, and patination throughout. Mounts have extensive rubbing and some fraying of tsuka ito. Saya is good with some handling marks and a few minor chips to bare wood trhough lacquer. PROVENANCE: Roger Bender Collection. EMW
