pre-Civil War knight head sword with a blade decorated for over half its length with etched and frosted panels that contain patriotic and foliate motifs. The blade exhibits a gray patina with scattered blemishes throughout. Wide cross guard with bud quillons and star languets at center. Engraved ivory grip with pleasing patina and a few hairlines. Knight head pommel. Missing chain guard. Hilt exhibits nice patina with muted gilding. The sword is complete with its original gilded scabbard that is marked "AMES MFG CO/ CHICOPEE / MASS" on reverse side. Decorated mounts and drag on obverse side. The scabbard retains nice amounts of its original gilding with scattered blemishes and light dents.
