This is a standard model 1842 manufactured by Ira N. Johnson, Middletown Connecticut, 1845 - 1852. Features includes 8-1/2" round barrel, smooth bore, .54 caliber, brass blade front sight, with swivel type steel ramrod. It remains in lovely untouched condition. The barrel is a smooth brown patina and is stamped "U.S. - J.C.B.". The lock plate and hammer also retain pleasing blue-grey patina. Clean brass with several dings at butt. Strong markings. Very good wood, slightly shy to metal with an expert repair (1-1/2") under lock plate. Bore has some minor corrosion. Action works fine. Nipples slightly battered.
U.S. MODEL 1842 PERCUSSION PISTOL.
