Bizen Sukesada was a name used by several generations, and while the record of the NBTHK Hozon papers does not name the generation, choosing simply to state "Shinto", the work is of exceptional quality. It measures 1 shaku 7 sun 6 bu (approximately 53.3cm or just under 21"), and has a toran-midare hamon of repeating choji in groups of three heads with excellent nie activity including sunagashi and tobiyaki, giving the feeling of a surging waves. Tightly knit jigane with sparse ji-nie, and some open itame. O-kissaki with a heroic feeling, boshi is midare komi before straightening out and turning maru. Shinogi zukuri and iori mune. Nakago with kuri jiri, mumei, with one mekugi-ana. While the sword was issued Hozon papers, they were unfortunately lost. Luckily, the records of the papers were kept: it was paper number 332609, dated September 15th, 1993, and was attributed to Shinto Sukesada. CONDITION: In polish, showing off the features well with excellent definition of the nie. Boshi a little unclear, but defined. Some scattered handling marks commensurate with a sword hundreds of years old. Shirasaya with some handling marks that do not detract. A blade with a classic heroic feeling.
