Very pretty, 16" tall, closed mouth German doll with huge eye sockets, and brown glass bulging eyes, incised on back of head "188" and "10" at the next socket. She has the "Belton" type head, which is closed at the top with a flap at the slope on the back with three stringing holes and is strung through the head by a wire, which is attached to the original wooden composition body with straight wrists. Body has the original finish with the possibility of a slight re-paint on the lower arms and hands. Costume was created probably by the most recent owner, and is pink satin, with lace trim and overlay, with tiny green silk braid threaded design, and a well-coordinated and elaborate bonnet. Underwear is old, the black socks are knit, and she is currently lacking shoes. Most likey late 1890's, possibly made by "Bahr & Proschild".

Item Dimensions: 16" T.
WIDE-EYED "BELTON" TYPE CHILD.
