This rifle has a fine curly-maple stock and a full 37 1/2" octagonal barrel, with a oxidized brown surface. The percussion lock is original, while the brass hardware has an uncleaned, "as-found," patina. The brass patch box, unengraved, has seven piercing, and is typical of the Union/Center County style. There are eight silver forestock inlays with a silver thumb piece and also a fish under the cheek piece. In addition, the original amber-colored finished stock has nice incised carving behind the cheek piece. The entire rifle is in its original, untouched surface and there are two small replacement pieces of wood "fore and aft" of the upper portion of the lock at the juncture of the front trigger-guard stud, there is a "clean-break," which has been stabilized with a "hidden Dutchman" (spline) inside the lock cavity. Otherwise this attractive Kentucky has original surface, excellent curl, and nice appointments and is original throughout.
ZACHARIAH ALBRIGHT ATTRIBUTED KENTUCKY RIFLE.
