Manufactured in Middletown Conn from 1845 through 1852. This example is dated 1851 on lock with "MIDDtn CONN" and "US. H.ASTON & CO.". Barrel is stamped "US", "GWH" for George W. Hamlin, and "P". Left side barrel inspected "JH" for Joseph Hannis. Features brass barrel band, trigger guard, and pommel. Swivel rod with button head, small brass front sight, and brass side plate with band extension. Walnut stock shows two cartouche stamps on left side "JH" for Hannis and "WAT" for William A. Thornton. CONDITION: Fine. All iron hardware is an oxidized smooth but freckled patina. Brass is nicely toned. Stock is fine with minimal impressions, a small chip at right side, and few tack holes on right grip. Mechanically fine with a fairly clean bore.
