Manufactured in the Civil War by the American Machine Works for agents Poultney & Trimble, most of which were sold for government contracts. Standard blued octagon to round barrel with German silver blade front sight and carbine ladder rear sight. Case hardened break action with saddle ring and bar. Smooth walnut forend retained by a single barrel band. Walnut stock with a sharp "JH" inspection cartouche. CONDITION: Very Good. Barrel retains the majority of its fading original blue with some older oxidation spotting. Frame displays strong portions of dark, muted case colors. Stocks are very good with scattered dings and nicks. Sharp bore. Fine mechanics.
