Brass barrel retained by 2 keys and pins, with a short spray of florals and shell motif over breech, with beaded area at tang. Ramrod, probably the original, retained by a single ferrule and feeding into a reinforced mouth with raised line decorations. Flat lock, very lightly stepped, with beveled edges and light line engraving, signed "Ketland / & Co" under pan. Dual lockbolts connected by a pierced sideplate. Lock is a well executed reconversion with visible bushing around touchhole. American style stock with distinct sharply pointed birdshead grip, with inlaid silver wire at tang with shell motif and thumbpiece with elaborate bordering. Brass furniture comprises trigger guard with engraved floral, pointed finial, and floral spray engraved tang; rear tang is repaired. Brass buttcap with further floral engraving. Full length stock. CONDITION: Lock is essentially dove grey with some areas of oxidation, and what appears to be patterns of case colors that have now faded. Brass is a deep mustard patina, with exception given to repaired area at rear of trigger guard tang. Stock with several repairs and spliced in pieces of wood, including on both sides of the muzzle, a large splice repair behind lock that has also removed some of the silver wire, and other minor repairs and handling marks. Sideplate has a pair of cracks around fore lockbolt. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with minimal oxidation and visible weld from reconversion.
