Lot #2066:
(A) AMERICAN STOCKED SHORT LAND PATTERN FLINTLOCK MUSKET WITH REGIMENTALLY MARKED BARREL.
This beautiful Revolutionary War musket is composed of American, Dutch and British manufactured components. The British barrel is marked with "70 REGT" or "79 REGT" and has a partially visible crown over "GR" proof in the center towards the breech. The beveled convex lock is Dutch and is unmarked. The brass sideplate and ramrod ferrules appear to be British, but the trigger guard is American. The tiger maple stock is beautifully figured. Complete with a period iron ramrod. An old brass tag on the trigger guard is marked "F.W. ROEBLING III / COLLECTION / TRENTON, N.J. / 202". CONDITION: Barrel retains a brown surface and shows heavy wear and some pitting at breech. Lock is in its original flintlock configuration, retains a dark heavy brown patina, and functions well. Brass retains a pleasing light mustard patina. Stock shows scattered marks from use and minor hairline grain cracks. A very attractive American Revolutionary War longarm.
