This beautiful tiger maple stocked carbine features a British Pattern 1756 carbine barrel with crown over "GR" Tower proof stamped on top towards the breech and partially visible "RE" below a star for Tower barrel maker Richard Edge. The flat lock is unmarked and has a crude period field repair to the frizzen spring spring. All of the brass furniture is from the Pattern 1756 carbine. The tiger maple stock retains its original finish and has a very nice iron staple reinforcement to the tang of the ramrod entry ferrule. Complete with period iron ramrod. CONDITION: As found and untouched. Dark patinas throughout. In its original flintlock configuration. Barrel retains a dark patina with some pitting at breech. Lock shows pitting and part of sleeved frizzen face is broken away, frizzen spring does not function, but cock functions well. Brass retains a dark patina, crack in sideplate behind front screw. Stock has an untouched surface with scattered marks from use. A very fine American made Revolutionary War era carbine.
