U.S. Martial Model 1836 flintlock pistol made by Asa Waters in 1838. Round smoothbore barrel with brass blade front sight and "U.S. / JH" inspector's marks at breech. Flint lock marked "A. Waters Milbury, MS 1838" with brass pan and single trigger control. Walnut wood stock with illegible proofs and iron hardware and captured ramrod. CONDITION: Gun has been reconverted to flint using original lock and aftermarket or period parts. Wood and barrel have burnout which was caused by a percussion ignition system. Metal retains a silvery patina with some light surface pitting. Wood has dry appearance with usage marks and dings. DLM
