This is a 5th Model. Features walnut forend and stock, carbine butt, single band, folding leaf rear sight, full length saddle bar and ring on left side. Matching serial numbers. Maker's stamp on right side of lock. CONDITION: There is no remaining original finish on this Martially marked carbine. Basically grey patina with age spotting. Wood finish has dulled. All proper military inspector stamps. There is some chipping where forend meets frame. Fine, near mint bore and action. These Burnsides were extremely popular and were used by dozens of units of the Union Cavalry during the conflict.
