(A) CASED CHARLES LANCASTER PERCUSSION DOUBLE RIFLE.
Brunswick rifled/belted ball double rifle by Charles Lancaster of London. Damascus patterned barrels with solid rib, blade front sight with 3 leaf express rear sight graduated 100-150-250. Makers name "CHARLES LANCASTER LONDON" inscribed on top rib. Mounted in a nicely figured oil finished walnut stock, checkered at wrist and forearm, with double triggers and sidelock actions with exposed hammers and sliding safeties. Figural trigger guard with hand stop/grip. Right hand cheek rest. Heavy checkered steel butt plate. Attractive patch box with engraved vignette of 2 standing stag. Rifle is equipped with ebony loading rod. 2 turn screws, 1 can of Eley Double Waterproof percussion caps, small oil bottle, and several oxidized belted round balls and 1 belted conical projectile. All housed in a traditional English partitioned walnut case. CONDITION: Very good as older refinished with well defined grooved bores. Damascus patterns remain fresh. Stocks are fine with worn checkering and period of use impression and evidence of earlier refreshing. Mechanically fine.
