Nicely cased set of Target/Dueling style single shot percussion muzzleloading pistols numbered "1" and "2" but by different makers. (A) is marked on lock "J.B. Ronge Liege". Ronge worked in Liege, Belgium, from 1812 to 1832. Pistol hasan 8 - 5/8" blued octagon barrel with 13 groove rifling in .52 caliber with pinned blade front sight, patent breech percussion ignition marked "1" and case hardened floral engraved lock with adjustable single trigger. Scalloped handle walnut stock with floral raised carved nose, and case hardened hardware including finger spur trigger guard. (B) marked pistol is signed "J. Andreas Kuchenreuter". Kuchenreuter worked in Regensburg, Germany, from 1817 to 1836. Pistol has an 8 - 5/8" polished finish octagon to round barrel with extremely fine 10+ groove rifling in .52 caliber with flat sight plane, dovetail blade front sight, gold oval maker mark, and signature. Patent breech percussion ignition system with polished floral engraved lock marked at rear "KAISER", controlled with an adjustable single trigger. Scalloped handle walnut stock with flat key barrel escutcheon and floral engraved steel hardware. Guns come in green felt lined walnut period-looking case with period accessories. CONDITION: Both pistols are in excellent condition with light age frecking, handling scratches, and dents with no visible repairs or restoration. All accessories are in good condition; case is in good condition with a lid crack and replaced lining. Excellent bores and mechanics.
