Round barrel with blade front sight, marked at shank with proofs and "853" serial number, and notch rear sight on tang. Mid barrel band with an indistinct proof. Sidepanel with extension for saddle ring stud and ring, trigger guard with finger spur, and buttplate. Numerous proofs observed throughout. CONDITION: Good, metal with scattered patches of mossing throughout, stock with numerous handling marks and impressions throughout. Mechanically fine, bore excellent with strong rifling. These rifles were imported in large quantities in 1861 and saw use on both sides of the Civil War. PROVENANCE: Jim Cyr Collection.
