Manufactured circa 1874 from left over percussion parts and purpose built barrels. This example is one of approximately 6,000 made with a 3 - 1/2" round barrel chambered in .38 rimfire with 2-line Hartford address. Blued finish with standard brass pin front sight and hammer notch rear. Rebated 5-shot cylinder rollmarked with stagecoach holdup scene. Case hardened frame marked on left with 2-line "PAT. JULY, 25, 1871. / PAT. JULY, 2, 1872" marking. Brass straps and trigger guard bearing "36 CAL" marking and fit with smooth walnut 1-piece grips. CONDITION: Fine. Traces of factory applied blued finish are retained, especially in protected areas, with balance fading to a gray patina. Significant amounts of faded case colors are also retained. Grip straps are bright with some areas starting to mellow. Grips are very fine, showing some wear at the bases. Good bore and mechanics. Matching numbers observed throughout, with the cylinder arbor a replacement. BAS
